Ejikeme Obasi, MD, FACPEjikeme Obasi, MB.BS, FACP – Dr. Obasi received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Nigeria. After completing a residency in Internal Medicine in Nigeria and at Cook County Hospital Chicago, he went on to Nephrology fellowship training at Rush University, also in Chicago. Dr. Obasi is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine with the University of Illinois and acts as Medical Director for several dialysis units, including the Merrionette Park Dialysis Facility and the acute Dialysis program at Little Company of Mary Hospital. He is the current President of Southwest Nephrology Associates. His special interests include Home Dialysis therapies, Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease.




Dr. ThomasAbraham Thomas, M.D., MPH, FACP. – Dr. Thomas received his medical school training at the University of Kerala, India. He completed his Internal medicine residency at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was also the Chief Resident. He then went on to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and completed a Masters in Public Health and Nephrology Fellowship training. Dr. Thomas is board certified in Nephrology, Interventional Nephrology, and Internal Medicine. He is also a certified clinical specialist in Hypertension. His special interests include; Interventional Nephrology, Critical care Nephrology, Hypertension, Kidney transplantation and Dialysis. Dr. Thomas is the Chairman of the section of Nephrology at Advocate Christ Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago. He also serves as the medical director of dialysis units in Mokena and Woodridge.




Dr. AhujaAkash Ahuja, M.D. – A Chicago native received Bachelors degree from Boston University and went on to Rush University here in Chicago completing medical school, residency, and nephrology fellowship. Board certified in both Medicine and Nephrology. Dr Ahuja is fluent in Spanish. Honors have included Cum Laude graduation from Boston University and Alpha Omega Alpha membership at Rush. Special interests in Nephrology include continuous renal replacement therapies, glomerulonephritis, and interventional nephrology.





Dr. McLaughlinJeanette McLaughlin, M.D.FASN, FACP  – Dr. McLaughlin grew up in Rockford, Illinois. She did her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago- Rockford. She did her residency and fellowship at the University of Chicago. Dr. McLaughlin is board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Obesity Medicine. She is a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and the American College of Physicians. Her areas of interest include chronic kidney disease, geriatric nephrology and incorporating lifestyle changes to help manage kidney disease and hypertension. She also serves as the medical director of Fresenius Oak Forest and US Renal Scottsdale dialysis units.




Dr. PatelAmishi Patel, M.D.  – Born in Toronto, Canada, Dr. Patel relocated to the United States in 1998 and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago where she graduated with honors and went on to complete her medical degree at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Her special interests include kidney stones and she offers a specialized stone clinic. This clinic provides a comprehensive treatment plan individualized to each patient by working closely with urologists with the goal of prevention of further kidney stones. Other interests include chronic kidney disease and dialysis therapies.




Dr. SelkNatalie Selk, M.D., FACP – Raised in Park Ridge, Illinois, Dr. Selk completed her undergraduate education at Loyola University Chicago. She attended medical school at Rush University where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She remained at Rush University Medical Center for her Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship. She is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Her interests include glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, and the medical management of kidney stones including the prevention of new stone formation.





Dr. RajuPriya Raju, M.D.  – Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Dr. Raju received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated with honors. She received her medical degree from The Medical College of Virginia/VCU School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. During her time at Rush, she had the honor of serving as a Chief Resident in internal medicine as well as a Chief Fellow in nephrology. Before joining SWNA, she was part of a private practice nephrology group in Los Angeles, California. Her special interest include glomerulonephritis and chronic kidney disease.





Dr. Onyenwenyi Chijoke Onyenwenyi, M.D.  – Dr. Onyenwenyi graduated from medical school at the University of Lagos, Nigeria where he graduated with honors. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he also served as Chief Fellow. Dr. Onyenwenyi is the recipient of numerous teaching and scholastic awards. His areas of interest include acid base and electrolyte disorders, and Interventional Nephrology.






Dr. Ybañez Neil Ybañez, M.D.  – Dr. Ybañez received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of the Philippines. He completed his Internal Medicine training at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. Throughout his training, Dr. Ybañez received numerous clinical, teaching, and academic awards. Dr. Ybañez practiced Internal Medicine for six years before going to the University of Vermont to complete his Nephrology Fellowship. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He is fluent in Tagalog (Filipino) and Cebuano. His clinical interests include critical care nephrology, acute kidney injury, and hypertension.





Dr. Sousanieh George Sousanieh, M.D.  – Dr.Sousanieh was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. He graduated from Damascus University, Faculty of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He moved to the United States to complete his Internal Medicine training at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science/Chicago Medical School where he served as a Chief Resident. He pursued a Fellowship in Nephrology at Rush University Medical Center where he also served as a Chief Fellow. Dr. Sousanieh is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is fluent in Arabic and French. He is interested in acute kidney injury in the critical care setting, glomerulonephritis, and interventional nephrology.





Chris Sutich Christine Sutich, APN/CNS – Chris graduated from Evangelical School of Nursing in 1977 with a diploma in Nursing and then received her Bachelor Degree in Nursing from St. Xavier University in 1980. She completed her Masters Degree in Medical Surgical Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in 1993 with a nephrology clinical focus. Chris has greater than 30 years experience as a Nephrology Nurse, including acute and chronic hemodialysis, home dialysis, nursing and patient education and the management of chronic renal failure. Currently, she serves as the Clinical Manager of both SWNA offices as well as the Director of our Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic. Her special interests include CKD management and patient education. 





Ishmaella Wilson-Mills Ishmaella Wilson-Mills, MSN/FNP-BC  – Ishmaella graduated from Olive Harvey Community College in 2007 with an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing and then received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Governors State University, graduating in 2011. She then went on to complete her Master of Science Degree in Nursing at Governors State University and became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017. Ishmaella has 10 years of experience in dialysis, working in the chronic and acute setting as well as peritoneal dialysis. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society, American Nurses Association, and The American Nephrology Nurses Association. 





Clarence G. Rojo Clarence G. Rojo, APRN-CNP, AGNP-C  – Clarence graduated from Morton Community College in 2006 with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and then received his RN-MSN Degree in 2017. He completed his Master of Science Degree in Nursing at Lewis University and became certified as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner in 2019. Clarence has 20 years of experience in hemodialysis managing fluid overload, anemia, and vascular access. Before he migrated to Chicago, Clarence had a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the Philippines. His areas of clinical interests include hypertension, secondary hyperparathyroidism, vascular access management, and patient’s treatment options education. 





Amy Janda Amy Janda, PA-C  – Amy grew up in Northwest Indiana. She graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Nutrition Science and a Spanish Minor. She then received her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Practice from Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, IL. Amy is fluent in Spanish. Her interests include chronic kidney disease and patient education.
