What is an ESCO?

What is an ESCO?

NANI is participating in a brand new care model just rolled out by Medicare, an ESCO.

An ESCO is a group of dialysis facilities, nephrologists, and other health care providers working together with Medicare to coordinate and improve the quality of care you receive.

The goal of an ESCO is for dialysis facilities, nephrologists, and other health care providers to communicate closely with your other health care providers, so they can deliver high-quality care that meets your individual needs and preferences.  ESCOs may be rewarded for providing high quality, more coordinated care.

If you or your family member is on dialysis at a Fesenius Medical Center facility, he or she may be an ESCO beneficiary.  If so, you do not need to make any changes to your care or care providers. Just know that their care is being watched carefully, most likely to their benefit.
